Expectations

Mine did not align with reality the very first day that I started working. I asked my manager what am I supposed to be doing and he told me to “jump right in”. Who does that? The entire shift I just shadowed another employee and helped him whenever he needed or did what he told me too. That was more than 6 months ago and it’s only gotten worse. Sometimes I wonder what I’ve gotten myself into, but hey - it’s a job (for now) that pays my bills.

I don't see that aspect getting better. All new people are being thrown to the wolves in that fashion, from recovery to store management. And regional and home office management go to the stores and rip them apart. Most stores are running on minimum, yet these nobheads who have not done any type of real work still thing that the gold standards can be met. All they are doing is causing more people to want out.

That's a problem that will continue to happen. When they let all those knowledgeable employees go or forced them out because of cut wages, they made it tougher for those that stayed on to train new employees since now those managers are having to do extra work to make sure the store is running. Now they don't have the time to spend with new hires to make sure things are getting done right. It's a self inflicted wound that is not going to heal any time soon. Good luck.
