Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Churn & burn

For the last few months I’ve been feeling like we’ve adopted a new business model called “churn and burn”. That’s when we hire new employees, barely give them any training and work them until they’ve had enough and just quit. I can’t even count how many we’ve lost since the beginning of the year.

Heard there will be a regional sales manager conference call in the near future addressing the sky high specialist attrition rates. : " Herr derr... why are all these guys leaving after we lied to them and took away their benefits and incentives?"...Gee, I dunno geniuses, guess that remains a mystery.

Why are all the long time employees leaving? Lets see

1- Got rid of FSA, Assemblers, Hr, Installed Sales,PSI, 3rd party flat bed deliverers, Dept Managers -though become dept supervisors now must take care of multiple depts
2- Electrical and Plumbing Pros stripped of there title- but pay remains same- I was one of them
3- Did away with spiffs compensation to the employees that where promised that as long they stayed hourly was guaranteed.
4-Customer concentric scheduling - thats a big one for me- no life what so ever

Just totally understaffed. I was always told that the more sales we have for the store, the more help we will get. Never really understood that reasoning, you would think more sales people on the floor more sales.

Meanwhile Lowes had a great year and Marvin doubled his income.

Marvin can just keep cutting the stores up while Lowes corp has some much fat its ridiculous.

When all the knowledgeable employees are gone let Marvin come in and figure out how to do an installed sales, SOS order, or help that customer with a plumbing or electrical problem.

Glad I'm outta here, just miss my great co-workers.

The attrition rate at my store/department (appliances) is astonishing. Took me a minute to remember everyone but in the last two years alone we have lost 6 part timers plus 3 full timers (with another long hauler full timer leaving soon). There will soon be no one knowledgeable enough left to train any new comers. Customer service is in free fall as the newbees haven't a clue how to deal with the never ending amount and complexity of incoming customer complaints. No one, including myself, wants to be in the department any more. See virtually no hope of anything changing in the foreseeable future and we are losing not only employees but our valued customers as well. Lowe's is rapidly turning into a hollow shell of its former self and more and more employees are asking themselves if they even want to be associated with this company any more. Very sad that the policy makers in corporate are so oblivious (or simply uncaring) as to the situation they have created.

Don't forget that they churn and burn our regular full/part timers. Having off 1 weekend every 2 months if that, split days off, clopenings. Covering 3 different departments. Got fed up with how the company has changed for the worst. That is why I left after 9 years -fu-k em-

Obviously the management is not evaluated on turnover. What a shame.
