I’ve been working for a little over 3 years and what an eye opener it’s been. I started off thinking I would focus on career development but I’ve quickly learned that there is none here. If I had known in advance how each department is its own little fief with its toxic environment and politics I would have definitely chosen another career path entirely. As it stands I’m looking to get out and into another industry. This time I’m doing deeper research into companies I’m interested in.

Don’t ever become a claims adjuster here. Worst company ever as of last year due to the layoffs . Run ! Overworked and exhausted every day . No relief in sight despite Allstate management promising us every month that Help’s on the way .
Get out NOW, I’ve done 15 years at this point (sounds like a prison sentence) and would have done things differently, now I have mortgage, family, etc and am trapped (for now at least). There is still time to change, don’t get trapped here or next thing you know years will have passed by, your hair is grey, and you have a substance abuse problem due to stress. This whole industry is a toxic wasteland. Keep your expenses low and find something you can grow with and still have a fulfilling life
Fief? Damn millennial.
Let me make a suggestion ….if you’re young enough, join the marines or the navy. If you’re smart enough become a nurse or a dentist. If you’re talented enough, start your own business. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT work for an insurance company, especially Allstate ! After 30 years I can tell you, the first 10 years were awesome. After this ho-e went public it’s been an absolute pit. Don’t let the minimum niceties fool you. Get out get out while you’re still young !
