I get todays environment, it's all business, bean counter, run it by the numbers, trying to squeeze every penny out of us as cheap as possible from a disposable workforce. I'm not upset with my Team Manager as they are only doing what they have to do to keep their jobs and provide for their families. SM, CM and so on. VPs and above are making these decisions and the place is a literal he-- ho-e company with questionable business practices...Enterprise Led! I make no delusions about SF and the good ole days...it was not perfect either! Yes it was much more employee friendly but I can remember working just as hard and maybe harder "back then". We didn't get to number 1 by being lazy regardless of what newer employees think. The fact of the matter is no one ever has fun, ever. It's just a very sterile cold environment. No one has a sense of humor, there is nothing to look forward too/celebrate, and it is just SF all the time. Throw in horrible metrics, no staffing, and constant clean up of incompetent people. Agency understands if you work hard you have to play hard...they still have fun sometimes but not like they used too. Just sad to see how "Enterprise Led" has created such a sad sad place that just sucks the life out of every one, with no hope in sight. Good job Tipsy!

Yes, there are dark times ahead for State Farm. Their leadership style will not fit with today's workforce. It will be a hard lesson for them to learn, but it will be a good lesson for the company because it may force them to go back to ground zero and rethink how they became #1. The higher a building goes with a very small foundation, the likely it is to tip over. There are two things they can never take from you: Your name and your pride. Leadership needs to learn this lesson in order to respect the upcoming workforce. It is NOT the same as it once was. It is smarter and much more wise to their game. Once they get a slight inclination of the political posturing, the sooner they will lose some of the best qualified individuals to keep the company #1. The days of management ruling with authority are over. The days of management promoting on "their approved good ol boy 'fit in' list are gone. The turnover will be at an accelerated rate where the quality of service bottoms out to the point of no return. Many business models have proven this. SF will soon find out money never buys reputation. Many on this site state "record numbers." Those record numbers can turn down real fast and in a heartbeat with an overlook or an unethical decision. Believe me, many are out there hungry and waiting for that opportunity so just be careful and appreciate the employees who are there for State Farm and not just a paycheck.
I no longer have time to interact with workers, despite the WFH virtual environment is far better for this than in office.
Managers failed to keep staffing levels proper, and now everyone is suffering greatly for it.
Just about everyone I did know has already left....and we dont even have time for huddles, 1x1's....requesting PTO off is on hold so people call out making it all worse. New employees hitting the floor will not get meeting, reviews of work, or time to ask for help, and wont know anyone since we dont have time for non customer facing anything.
It is really turning into quite a terrible place to be. Most longer term workers are only here for the pension at this point...but ive known several who made the call that the pension wasnt worth another 10 years here....its like that now.
Oh and if you have any ambition, good luck....they changed how internal employees apply, so your ratings ect are not factored in when weeding out applications. Of the few positions opened since COVID, every one has had a specific person they are going to hire, but post it anyway for all to apply. At any moment, managerial incompetency could put a need on you being demoted into a lesser department, or one you worked hard for years to escape.
It is one of the more emotionally rough things ive had to deal with, watching a company full of people i care about ruined from the top down, watching people suffer with the work enviroment..."career men" taking jobs out of the industry, even with tons of designations....its demoralizing for those who know it can be better. Poor younger folk get that right off the bat...which is why SF leads the insurance industry in turnover.
I really think just a blanket mass layoff would have been more kind at this point than draining the company with attrition and poor work conditions.
So no....most people in claims do not have the seconds required to connect with workers. Going to the office will make it worse i imagine.
Dark times ahead for this company and employees unless something major changes.
Well they wanted an accountant to run the show, so now its all about metrics and numbers to the point where no one at this company does anything other than dealing with metrics and staffing issues caused by the metrics.
Thats what SF culture is now. Metrics. They could probably shed half the managers, save the company tons of wasted money, and give their front line workers some financial love...but they wont...because the culture isnt about employees unless its the last line in an email telling you about mandatory OT to keep metrics in SLO or about how you no longer have a say in where you work, youve been reassigned due to failures of managers to keep a fortune 50 company properly staffed.
All I know is that this needs to change before were fighting Allstate for the bottom.

yeah all the expect now is work non stop ,going to the office for the sake of interacting with co workers is stupid since you wont have a second to do anything, metrics are way up no room to stop for a second, they think we are machines
How can anyone there have any time to connect with their co-workers anymore? In the past, at least you had a little bit of time between calls. This would break the monotony with a short conversation, a joke, talking about your family, what you're doing on your day off, etc. For me it was a huge stress reliever and forged good coworker relationships. And if we ever return to the office full time, it will be back to nose to the grindstone again.
