Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Duplicate/ unnecessary functions?

I absolutely agree with the person who says that duplicate and unnecessary functions should be eliminated as soon as possible. I just wonder how many people would get laid off at Oxy if the company was guided by cutting those who really perform unnecessary functions? I think it would be mass layoffs and then it would be seen that there are far fewer real employees at Oxy who do serious work than those who are unnecessary.

Two VPs of Reserves and Two VPs of “Support”, two of Land. You can always use a spare tire.

Are they hiring people to form this company in a company or just pooling talent together?

The main questions are what are they busy doing and does the work really need to be done?

Why would there be a mass layoff of anyone? Most departments are understaffed.

Change of control expires in August 2022 and there will be a mass layoff of LAPC employees.

I just wish they would get rid of non-performers and the malcontents. That would send such a good message to those that actually work and don’t complain all the time. When September rolls around those still at home need to come back, or WFH should be extended to everyone. I think many will quit before coming back, so attrition is probably right around the corner.
