They decided to increase our hiring rate by $1.50 but only to give it to anyone not making $10 yet. All the supervisors are angry as well as anyone with any amount of time under their belt. Even the SM is angry but HR doesn't care like usual. I feel kinda apathetic since I'm so used to this kind of cr-p here.

No minimum wage did not go up. Our in hire rate was 8.50 and they just increased it to ten bc we are having a hard time finding new hires to stay. It takes at least 6 years of annual raises to get that increase, its just a slap in the face to existing employees that worked their way up to that rate. A girl that has been at our store 11 yrs now makes $1 more than new hires.

Why not be a company your employees can thrive at and your customers actually feel good about shopping at.
Did the minimum wage go up in your area? That happened to us and they changed review dates so that everyone got their annual increase just before the minimum wage changed. If they kept the annual reviews the same, they would have given increases on top of the minimum wage increase and we know they don’t want to do that.
