Thread regarding GE Healthcare layoffs

Nobody is irreplaceable

Please, people, make sure you are prepared for layoffs, whether you think you'll be affected or not. I see many folks who are so convinced they are irreplaceable they don't even have a contingency plan. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes when they realize that when it comes to numbers, nobody cares about their experience and knowledge anymore. It won't cost you anything to update your resume, start networking, and maybe send out a feeler or two. And it can mean a world of difference if you suddenly find yourself without a job.

I am a GE Biomed technician.

All new GE medical equipment will have an FMI correction needed with 1 year. Terrible R&D and manufacturing. Most of their new patient monitoring is made in Mexico.

The reverse GE stock split was a joke.

Laid off? Yes....targeted? Absolutely. Sad to see such a great company swirl down the drain. "India is coming!" They said over a year ago. Out sourcing, but we are specifically told by upper management to not let sites know we outsourced over seas??? Really? They aren't available after 11am and can't speak English. Run while you can!!!!! Patient safety? Nope....all management cares about is cash flow. Make a product that works GE. Not A "true Pacs". Does that mean all the others were not real PACS systems?

Why would an employee who has been laid off give a rats a$$ about seniority and getting rehired?

So I can get my stupid a$$ 20 yr service plaque sooner?? Whoopee!!

Keep firing people there GE. You are after all so good at it!

What are I and C policies?

GEHC Waukesha is still a terrible place to work! Tell all your friends and neighbors. Explain to them what a sh!t show it really is; low pay, poor benefits, managers who look out for their own a$$ always. Your managers boss who has no clue other than who can spew the latest BS tagline and marvel at all the wonderfully put together PPT pitches. Jeeesh. No camaraderie, no Team, just a collective group of Me’s.

Heard some top talent quit this week (departures). Good for them! There ARE MUCH BETTER places to be an employee.

So much for the old "Paired Comparison Analysis" process. Does HR just look at your picture and keep people based on a "quota" now?

Nobody is irreplaceable, yes. Even women? Even bl---s? (Think Mike Barber)

GEHC is a sh!t Company with no future for its employees.

For those of you who DO think you're irreplaceable, consider if your clueless, bean-counter, MBA-type manager is informed/smart enough to discern an irreplaceable employee from the rest.

OP is right. It's true no matter where you work. I've seen it at other companies. So many of us have left or RIFed that we have a great network by default. Better to go out on a high note and not competing against others laid off at the same time.
