Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Then vs. now

Things have changed so much. I’ve been here for over 10 years and the difference back then compared to the present is huge. I used to enjoy my job and the people that I worked with. I am thankful to still be employed but I hate what I do every day and can barely get myself motivated each morning. I am purposely looking for a new job because this isn’t the company I once loved. I hope I find something soon because hating your job has got to be one of the worst feelings in the world.

When Xerox Canada started pressuring their agency employees into doing more work for the same min. wage, while not going to OT, then many agency staff left because the workload was too much to work for C$1950 net a month after taxes.

They were better off working at a grocery store or stocking shelves at WalMart. For comparison, an administrative staff working at the City of Toronto earns C$35/hr for the same job duties as a C$14.25 temp staff. The minimum wage is for high school students.

A bad manager can really make your work day miserable. A bad upper management team that makes decisions that don't favor employees can leave employees very unhappy, stressed, anxious, upset, etc. Since I started with the company, my job was nothing but stress and anxiety due to my direct manager. My mood completely changed from happy to mad. I had no work life balance. The moment I chose me and my health over the company, I was immediately treated different and later laid off. Take my advice, you are doing the right thing to look for a new job. The only way this place will get better is if they do actually listen and fire the people (even on EC level) who are making the employees miserable and causing them to leave.

I came to that realization in 2017 and I had been there 20 years
