Thread regarding GE Aviation layoffs

Reapplying

I thought people who were laid off were free to apply for other positions within the company. Is this not true?

No need to worry about getting a call to reinstate employment. Sadly, they’ll need a list of people much larger than they have. Many laid off will not be going back

If you were one of the 1st laid off and you wasn't here a year..You'll never work here again. This was a way to shift some work to Mexico and other lower paying shops and cut head counts at higher paying shops. How can we compete with Mexico when the make less than 5 dollars for a full day work? It's about pushing parts as cheap as they can.

Why even bother? The market is hot with better jobs!

For 1 year from layoff u can apply for GE job without loss of seniority. Regardless if u got let go i doubt you would get rehired unless you took a lot less pay to justify.

Most companies this is true. But think of it like a game of musical chairs and the only chairs left are jobs that no one wanted to take, or is already created for someone specifically.
