Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

Pembina is a walking contradiction

This week Pembina announced a Transaction with Inter Pipeline. How the he-l did this happen when we were working from home??? I thought the message was we are a work from work kinda company that needs to be together to better collaborate and grow the business. I am shocked this "Transaction" was able to happen since we are, as a whole incapable of growing the business while working from home. This company drips with hypocrisy. As well, in the news today, there was an article stating "Nearly 40% of workers would consider quitting if their bosses made them return to the office full time, a new survey shows". This is not shocking and many people I know are currently looking for employment with more flexibility. Why can't MD listen to a progressive CEO, as he is not listening to his employees - I am talking about Richard Branson who has said, " We’ve had flexible working and no dress code policy at Virgin Management for years and our people enjoy being treated like adults. We’ve long believed people should be judged on their work, not what they are wearing or where they are working."

I encourage leadership, especially MD, to put aside their egos and listen to the employees. Yes, there will be a few bad apples who have taken advantage of the situation, and there is a remedy for that - get rid of them. But don't punish the rest of us because of a few slackers and by the way, these same slackers will continue their behaviour at the office as well. I know a few of them myself and question how they he-l they are still employed. MD, it's time to get on board and start listening to your employees otherwise I have no idea why we complete surveys. I know change is hard for a lot of older people who are used to the way things used to be but that is not the way forward and we shouldn't be shocked to see people leaving Pembina as things start opening up. There are a lot of great opportunities out there with ranges of flexibility to suit individual needs, as a lot of companies are adapting to this changing environment. I'm tired of being treated like a robot and not a person.

MD has taken a great company where the people were the most important asset to a company where no one except MD and the exec lining their pockets to matter. I have worked here for 30 years and am embarrassed that Mick is able to get away with what he has done to this company.

I'm one of the people who left, and there are lots of good opportunities out there as things are starting to open up. Could be wrong, but I'd put money on the fact Pembina will have a hard time attracting decent talent once they need to start re-hiring. The word on what their like has and continues to get around, and is spreading more by the day.

It's happening! People are leaving and so many of us are looking. Unless MD changes his tune, the office is not going to look the same.
