Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

COVID Receding

The media seems to be hopeful that there will be a surge in retail now that COVID is receding. Possibly people needing to update their wardrobe, refresh their cosmetics, etc. Is there any way Macy’s would be ready for that? With stores so sparsely staffed and the inventory not being as good as it used to be, it makes me wonder if a lot of customers will just not bother any more.

As a third party vendor that supports the stores it’s amazing the lack of Associates to help customers. Actually this was happening prior to the pandemic I’ve seen it for too long. Customers come to me looking for help several times a day so kindly redirect them or call to have an Associate help them. As a shopper this is disgruntling when I visit other stores and experience the same thing. Lose enough customers and will affect you down the road. Online is doing well but can only carry you so much.

The surge is already here. And no, stores are completely unprepared. Thousands of open jobs across the stores.
