I do understand people that are close to retirement or people that are at an older age and are not sure whether they will be able to find a new job. Why do young talented people fall to the illusion that GE is going to be what it used to be or even that things could get better any time soon?

FY 2025 and still no new products out of ARC or whatever it is called. Need I say more?
Wisdom also comes at a cost. Remember as a child believing in Santa Claus? I'm sure that for many of us Christmas was extra special when we believed. This is kind of what the young people experience with being employed by G.E. We grew up and it ruined it all.
Because they haven't been around the block enough times to recognize a con yet?
Because they are still blindly following their parents' advice...just work hard and everything will turn out OK for you?
Y'all need to stop bringing up Jack Welch. That's neither here nor there at this point. Weird just like this place.
Many LPs are delusional when it comes to their lack of humility, what they think the contribute in terms of value and ability. So they stay to promote each other perhaps. Not all are like this because GE actually got lucky with a couple. I think some of the smarter ones that don't want to degrade themselves by working here will leave and the coasters will ride the waive of mediocrity to the top if they can. Promoting mediocrity is a known phenomenon in the corporate world because it is so hard to fire people. Your likewise mediocre buddies will protect from layoffs. They certainly picked some of the wrong ones to lay off.
I do not understand ANY employee who stays with this terrible place. Sucks!
Most of the younger generation wants everything given to them. No concept of working hard and waiting their turn to be rewarded. They believe jobs are a right instead of a privilege.
Jack Welch was an a$$ho-e, Jeff Immelt is an id--t and Larry Culp is a thief!

GE is no longer iconic American. It is fast becoming Mexican, Indian and Chinese. Let that sink in.
How come the Chairman and CEO role cannot be outsourced to Mexico, India or China?? Riddle me that! Same thing for all the management roles down to LPI [Lead Program Integrator, PB band]? They have MS Teams now and the internet etc. Why? Why? How come not? Would save a lot of cost if management was outsourced to LCC's [Low Cost Countries]. Don't ya think?
The GE with Jack died a long time ago.
