Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Have you ever had a good time working here?

I mean, has it ever been bearable for you to work here and without as much stress as there is now? I've only been here for a little over half a year and I'm already thinking about new options. I know a person who has been here for 5 years who says it was never good to work at Macy’s. It is incomprehensible to me that people stay here for so long in spite of everything.

It used to be like a family. Everyone had your back. Holiday parties, 4th of July cookouts at the store for employees. Now we bring in a box of cupcakes and say happy Birthday, good luck, hurry back from your LOA. Just so they think your nice to employees.
Recognition is only for people doing there job. Nothing for those who go the extra mile for the good of the business.

It use to be fun because people actually stayed and you got to know each other, or at least be work buddies. Everything has changed and with less people, there is less time to get to know each other because there is so much to do. Less people equals more work for everyone else. All you can do is try to get along with your coworkers and do your thing.

No lie my time working for the M was pretty cool and fun cause for 1. I already had friends working there so upon getting hired I had two friends to talk to but even on the first day 3 others approached me and started talking to me and I became cool with them from then on. There were some in my team that became shady and untrustworthy later but overall I've gotten along with everyone even my managers. But that was only my department and I did run foul with a manager from another department, a fat red coat security, and a wannabe tough guy from the basement. Overall I had good and bad days with the company.

those morning brainwashing meetings ( complete waste of time) is why people stay.. Macys is a cult full of people who think it was a career and gave up their dreams and hopes for a lousy paycheck. then they play the "credit game" open credits and you'll get Macys money which goes towards buying the cr---y clothing meanwhile they get 30-40 bucks from the credit care company for your efforts and they lowered the cash payouts if you get further along in the score card. the entire culture is run like a cult .. its when the stress becomes too much which in 99 percent of the stores it is.. thats when your brain had to much... stop torturing yourself and go get a desk job

I have been either part time or flex for 30 years. We used to have fun in my old store, made good friends, not a lot of stress. That store closed 5 years ago. My new store has never been a good place to work, the last three have been terrible, and this past one is unbearable!
