Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Revolving door

I can’t understand why we aren’t able to keep new hires. They last a few weeks and are never heard from again. The longest I’ve seen a new hire last is roughly 2 months. Not sure what the problem is but with a pandemic slowing down I thought we’d be able to get more people in. Sometimes I think these new employees just don’t want to work. Go figure.

People don’t mind working hard if they’re paid appropriately. Hard work on its own doesn’t mean cr-p, and no landlord, utility company, credit card company, etc. ever accepted “I’m a hard worker” as payment. Younger folks seem to have figured that out. Good for them.

As someone who regularly trained new hires (was there for over 4 years), I can tell you the majority are still in high school -- and really just don't want to work all that hard. During Covid, we had people only showing up one or two days a week, and no one was pointed for it. (Some of the regular folks were doing that as well though). The crazy work environment, not knowing for certain what you will be doing every day, being pulled like a rag doll to all departments with the drop of a hat, begging for your breaks, and being told you can't go home until all work is completed -- and all for $11.00 an hour -- this is why no one stays. Most people just want to be treated with dignity and respect -- and Walmart does not know how to do that.

Who wants to put up with the stress , the unrealistic expectations, and being told no matter what you aren't working fast enough.

Oh you can get them in but once they see what a sh-t show this company really is they realize what a grave mistake they have made. This isn't the walmart I signed up for over 20 years ago, its a completely different company now. I got out a couple of months ago. Go here if you want to read how it really is:
