Is there a freeze on promotions throughout the company that I might have missed somehow? It's been two years now since I've been promised one and I'm still waiting. If I bring it up, there's always something wrong at that particular moment but they keep assuring me it's going to happen. Am I an id––t to believe them?

I have gotten promoted numerous times (including a few weeks ago) but they're promotions i've had to apply and interview for, essentially new roles.
I have only seen a couple instances where a co-worker got promoted to a higher role within the same department because management decided to promote them. In both cases the people were overachievers who deserved it.

I have been promoted 3 times in 6 years, do not have family that work here and am not buddy buddy with anyone in Sr leadership. I am willing to do the hard work, see the big picture, and offer solutions before complaints. Not everyone has a sh-t experience at Citi....

Just use all the corp buzz words that you can. It doesn’t matter if you use them out of context or not, just try to squeeze them in into every email or conversation and you’ll go far.
No no, promotions are ongoing and it’s already pre planned by senior managers and internal interviews are only a hr formality. Of course, promotions are based on who can be buddy buddy with team leads...

Depends on your gender.
There is no freeze. They are pulling your leg. If you haven’t gotten a promotion its because they don’t want to give you one. You have three choices. You can move to another role, you can sit tight and be happy with what you have or quit.
No promotion freeze and it is very difficult to get promoted at citi. We do real time feedback here and share where you stand monthly. Sounds like you are trolling....
