Why bother doing anything other than whatever it takes to not get fired, considering that merit has long stopped being the metric used when it comes to promotions and raises? I've been doing my best (and by that I mean doing much more than I'm supposed to) for zero rewards long enough. I'm finally done.

I went to one of those "interviewing training" sessions that SF does every now and then. Audable gasp in the room when the TM leading it stated "technical skills are the least important as those can be taught" aka they dont care how good of a worker you are, they care most about your personality and interviewing skills. This is why terrible talent rises to the top while the skilled join competators.
May be a semantics issue. The word “layoff” connotes a temporary separation of work–think airline workers. The separations at SF have been permanent. So, the more accurate description is perhaps jobs being eliminated rather than layer off.
Agreed I laugh when people come on here a repeat the company line. "there have never been layoffs".
A decade ago State Farm had between 80K to a rough estimate of almost 90K employees. We are now down to 57.5K so SF has eliminated almost 3K jobs every year for the last decade. 3 years ago they put the SM/CMs on the phone and told them they made selections and were sending the list out on who was and was not chosen and said you will be done in 90 days if not selected. The Bank, HR, and down the line..... just because they don't walk you out the door the same day it is still a layoff. If it makes you feel better to say SF does not layoff people then go right ahead. Let us know when they call you in and say your job is going away in 90 days and I will ask you then what you want to call it.

People are just venting here because nobody listens at the Farm. You can't fix problems if you continue to sweep them under a rug. Looks like you two have the brooms!
