Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Bye Quarry Park

Got an offer from Toronto last Friday. Working from home makes it so much easier for job hunting and interviews.

The base salary of the new job will be about 12 % less than my current one with imperial ; but with bonus, the difference will be made up.

Always better to move to other cities/provinces for better opportunity. It’s not like 15 yrs ago, when people used to get 25 % more here in Alberta oil industries than other provinces or other industries.

Salaries and opportunities are way lower in Alberta for last 4/5 years. Most of the oil companies have reduced to 20%/30% their salaries in order to sustain. Which is smart initiative though. Only Imperial is adjusting by firing and hiring employees in cheap locations rather than reducing salaries. Most of high salaried folks will be gone in a year or two. You can dance with your incompetent boss, it won’t help you at all. Forget to feel fake pride about Imperial or about Alberta.

Imperial has a lot of internal migrants from other provinces working here in Alberta, earning a higher salary with affordable housing. If you don't like it GTFO.

You from Toronto? I think a lot of people are kicking themselves on why they moved from Toronto to this sinking ship
