Thread regarding Denbury Resources Inc. layoffs

Who else is trying to leave?

A lot of my coworkers are currently looking for a new job – so many that it surprised me to realize how widespread it is in my team. Is this something that's been happening throughout the entire company? Am I really that blind that I didn't notice anything before now?

I don't think he has to worry about it

Probably wanted to get out of the industry. Some companies are still having layoffs, so good luck to those who are “trying to leave”.

Just the head of IT . . . probably wanted to work from home.

You never know when somebody's joking any more about such things. I could've used the incorrect "they" (it was only one person who posted) or the clumsy "he/her", but even that isn't sufficient any more, become some prefer to go by new-fangled pronouns like ze/zir, etc.

I did not assume a gender. I used correct English.

Did you just assume someone's gender?

It was a su---r's bet. He knew that you couldn't post the five names here, so he'd win no matter what.

Where in this post did it say people already left, pretty sure it was asking who was all trying to leave. But yeah pat yourself on the back.....

That’s not much of a wager since quarterly bonuses don’t exist anymore. Between the recent job postings for HSE, IT and accounting, there’s more than 5 people who’ve voluntarily left or have given notice.

One of the chosen ones for a promotion just had to state his opinion i see.

This thread is a joke. All talk. Somebody please name 5 people that have voluntarily left in 2021. I will bet your quarterly bonus you can’t.

The only reason you didn't make less last year is because the way the structured bonuses for the remainder of last year. If you didn't figure this out yet, those extra checks were for this year. So don't expect those Quarterly bonuses anymore. You wont receive anything else until next April.

How are you figuring this out? I was never under the impression they were bringing back LTI for anyone who didn't have it immediately before the bankruptcy. So if it was stripped, you don't get it back unless you are promoted into it again.

Oh, then still no LTI and no more summer transition bonus from when they removed the LTI? So we're all making at least 15–20% less than we were 3 years ago? And lost all our stock

If you got LTI this year, you should've received notice in late March.

I haven't heard about LTI's coming back for all. Everyone who got one already got it.

Whoever posted about the big bonuses and pay for top brass is right. Just look at the change from 2019–2020 pay in the proxy located on the main Denbury website. Pages 33 and 38. Must have been one page turner of a performance review to get that jump.

Isn't LTI coming back this summer? Just gonna take a few years to get back to full vesting again

I’ve had a few friends leave, and I don’t blame them at all. The loss of benefits over the years, micro–management, backstabbing, and no professional development program will do that to you. Let commodity pricing keep rising and many more will depart.

After reading this thread, I started thinking about all the benefits which have been taken away....tuition reimbursement, gym allowance, stock purchase, LTI for most....it’s a lot.

In addition to more WFH, they should consider bringing some things back. I’m sure as most in the last 5 years my pay has gone up 5%. That’s it, 1% a year. With the rise in housing costs and living in this area our wages are barely average.

They rely on the philosophy of, "you're lucky to have a job", while they strip benefits and make themselves rich.

He kept saying he was really excited about the future of denbury after bankruptcy. Did that happen to coincide with the fact that he got a he–l of a bonus out of it? How did that douche canoe keep his job?

373,503 is just half of the awards granted and they were granted around $24, which means they’ve already doubled in value. Wish I got awards that fully vested in less than 3 months.

Did you not receive 373,503 shares @ $50 per share? Or $18.6M?
Because someone did.

Same decision here, without LTI I am finding positions working from home with the same salary.

Also, other companies invest in their people. As the person below states, a few people are invested in and the rest are after thoughts. No promotions, no continuous learning opportunities, and barely a wage increase.

If you write down the pros and cons, it’s not a hard decision.

Until they change their mentality that everyone is replaceable... you are going to see people leave denbury behind. Im looking at a new job but trying to decide if it's worth it to be gone from home so much.

Unfortunately, I’m finding that too. The company does a really good job of investing in the career growth of a select few and completely ignores any potential in so many of the rest of their talent pool. I don’t know the last time I had meaningful goals, guidance, opportunities for growth, raise, promotion. I guess they think 25 people can carry all the weight. They may get to put that theory to the test if there isn’t more consideration show to the whole group.
