We're having trouble keeping people for longer than a few weeks. As soon as they get a feel for the atmosphere and get to know the managers (and their tempers) people just stop showing up. I would have zero issues with this if we weren't so understaffed that we can't physically manage to finish everything that needs to be done. Sadly, once again it's us who pay the price.

And not all part-time employees are bad.
Not all stores are bad!!
It is nice to see a couple posts pointing out some positives!
Totally agree with the previous comment. The time off, benefits, easy schedule, coworkers are all reasons I've stayed. Every job will have its downfalls. Maybe some people come here to get things off their chest to other people that can relate and are in the same boat. The part timers than come and go don't get it like we do.
I left - but I stayed for a long time and my reasons were the schedule I had, the 3 weeks of vacation time each year, and I loved my coworkers that I had worked with for years. I won’t mention the negatives, because it’s in the past and what’s done is done. The time did come to leave, but sometimes people just need to come to a breaking point.
Interesting..no replies of why people stay and complain instead if leaving
To: i havent been here...wow! You have done it all! Sounds like you responsible for keeping the company alive! Why did you leave out the part about saving those kids lives when they were buried under towels? Why didnt you post about the times you realized that brides and grooms and you counseled them to save them a lifetime of heartbreak! Or the students you helped by changing their majors based on their color choices? Your mirror could save the world!
To the last post.
Your mirror will become MY mirror now. You were right on point with every word.
And it's time for me to move forward.
There is so much on our plate now, I'M TOTALLY OVERWHELMED.
I haven’t been in here in a long time since I left in December after 20 years. I just couldn’t do it anymore. What used to be a great company to work for became the absolute worst. I’ve done it all... opened 3 stores, received trucks, busted cage after cage of freight, consulted brides and students going to school; Ive caught shoplifters and was never given “rewards” that were supposed to be given, even after several reminders for them to do so. I’ve listened to customer complaints and gave them whatever they wanted because we never said NO. It’s all about playing their game. I really wanted to stick it out as I wanted to help my store. I had no issues with any of my co workers. No incentives, oh sorry, one Friday a month $40 of snacks for employee appreciation day. But, I just couldn’t take it anymore. After an especially bad day, I looked in the mirror and asked myself if it was worth being a team player or if it was time to leave the game. I left the field, but I’ve won the game.
Why do people who post so negatively about the company, the Managers, your coworkers stay? If you are so miserable leave. Seriously. Tons of companies work remotely now so you cant use the excuse of no jobs nearby. This board can be a place to vent but why stay somewhere you are so unhappy at?
If the company can't retain employees, oh well. I'll keep working at my same pace doing my same thing. I'm not working harder bc we are short staffed. I just enjoy my little bubble and ignore the bs around me, it's the only way to survive bbb.
Nobody wants to work here...
Maybe nobody wants to work with you. Why would anyone want to work around negativity all the time. Yeah, retail isn't perfect and regardless what retail you work in its always gonna be drama and negativity. You may want to look in the mirror and just maybe see the problem
A solution to the problem. Hire back those great and good employees that were fired with written apologies and a descent raise. Oh, forgot, not happening, since there are 137 more stores to close in the next 2 years, and more full timers on the chopping block.
Maybe ut is the negativity and the disdain of their coworkers who drive them away.
We have no call~ no shows and call outs every week . And to top that off it’s tolerated!!
Seriously!!!
Since when??
From cashiers, put away to receiving
Store managers are scrambling to get someone to take the call outs place and things are falling apart
When will the store managers get a clue and ditch these people who constantly call out
Relax, I hear HR is making it mandatory that all employees attend racial inequality and social injustice meetings. Help is on the way. Things will get worse.
