Layoff= Severance package?

In the past with a layoff, did they give you a severance? Or were you just out of luck?

Bu–––––t. They rank people and it is has nothing to do with how much you make. The list is drawn up on ratings and then the final decision is tested against the age test and other tests on groups of people.

When there is a need for layoffs, it is because the company is in a financial bind. Therefore, many people chosen for the layoffs are highest salary out of your peers. Not because they are low performance. Age also is another factor.

However, please note there is no requirement for them to provide severance for layoffs. Likely you were graded below your peers and therefore it's not the best they can do since they didn't think the best of you.

Layoffs without cause have normally involved severance.
