Ethics Hotline

Has anyone called the ethics hotline about a situation in their store? If so, was anything done regarding the situation. We have a very disrespectful manager in our store that has had numerous complaints to the SM and the DM. This manager is the reason we cannot keep employees and has had issues in every store they have worked in. Several of my fellow associates have talked to SM and to the DM and nothing has changed. This manager is rude, disrespectful, and lazy but remains employed. Could calling the hotline help?

My coworker called, it’s not anonymous and she ended up quitting because her manager couldn’t keep her mouth shut

Shame on your SM for not handling the issue with the problem manager. A call to HR is in order and with the documented calls about the manager in question, the SM will held responsible due to his or her inaction. This happened recently in a store in my district and both parties were let go. Someone needs to pick up the phone or email HR and forget the hotline. With that many complaints on one manager, both will likely go if HR is contacted.

They only exist to serve the company's best interests. They make excuses to cover for managers that are out of line.

It’s not anonymous and the only thing that happens is it makes your life more miserable in the store

Has anyone actually experienced success with calling the hotline? Our store has a manger who several associates have reported and nothing was ever done. This manager continues to behave the same way after being reported. The SM does absolutely nothing about it. It seems a call to the hotline would warrant an investigation or some kind of action.

Sadly that could be any store. The current building I’m in I spend more time trying to mend broken relationships with associates to keep them as happy as possible then I do helping customers or running the building. I had very similar experiences in two other stores I worked in where one manager was driving people from the building like rats on a sinking ship and nothing ever happened. I feel your pain and as an ASM we can only do so much when the SM and DM refuse to see the poor behaviors or enable it.

Of course you should call, you have tried everything else. Also encourage other associates who have complaints about this person to call.
