I was laid off about six months ago. It wasn't even a part of a major round, I think only five of us were affected at the time, which is why it arrived as such a shock to me. Anyhow, I'm still trying to find a new job. There are plenty of options available but nothing that pays even close to what I used to earn at Xerox. I'm luckily in no rush, but I have to admit I'm getting discouraged. How are other people doing? Any advice on where to look?

I'm in the same boat. I think I'm considering leaving Connecticut because the job bank is too low for my field yet thriving in states down South. Too many companies are leaving the Northeast so the few job openings don't pay too well because there's so many people looking for work. THANKS XEROX!
Make sure you consider that Xerox health benefits are way higher than at most companies and the coverage isn’t great. Additionally the 401k match and other benefits are way better. The biggest thing however is you find that at other places people are happy, not looking over their shoulder or backstabbing their co–workers.
ANYTHING is better than being paid MINIMUM WAGE at Xerox Toronto and being harassed, coerced and intimidated by the temp agency Managers.
It depends what you do and what skills might translate to other companies. I took a $13k pay cut but I get a better match and way better benefits and even though I lost all that vacation time, I still have a really good paid time off package now where I am allowed to carry over time from year to year. I also get annual raises. Who knew? I'm just overall happier. If you don't have other skills, try one of the competitors or a similar type business. Make sure to use keywords in the job description you're applying for in the body of your letter or resume. Try to look up people that you liked that you used to work with and see if any of them are working at a company that you want to apply to. Maybe they can get your resume in front of the right person or ask if you can use them as a reference on your application to that company. You'll find something. More and more jobs are opening up now that people are getting vaccinated.
I also took a 20K pay cut, but if I figured out my "hourly" rate (and multiply it by my "frustration rate"), I am making more money per hour in a job that actually treats me like a trusted colleague.
I took a completely different type of job for less pay but with the health and 401k benefits I get now it more than makes up for it and I am 100 times happier.
Go seek out a resume person. They can help you transition your skills into a different type of position.
