Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Trying to keep your job?

Most are aware that working at Xerox is not great and that this place should be left as soon as possible. Also, it’s pretty clear that there are no rules when it comes to layoffs and that it’s not imperative for them to keep the best people. How are you trying to keep the job?

I know some will be cynical now and say that no one is interested in keeping a job in this company, but I think some people still are, at least until they find a better option.

Unfortunately the "best" people are those that will find other employment. You can't make a great company by only looking out for shareholders and bonuses to the C Suite. There are a lot of good people left but the constant layoffs and outsourcing of jobs just creates a bad environment. It is the workers on the front line that keep Xerox in business. Any front line workers in any business really. We keep clients sometimes solely on those interactions. If they can't do annual raises to compete with the market that they stupidly believe they are even close to bench–marking, the least they could do is give bonuses to the people that actually earned them.

After 47 rounds of layoffs (yep that’s a fact) I quit trying to keep my job and gave them my best effort. In the end xerox had been good to me but it became clear they were neither friend nor family as so many are brainwashed into thinking. They are a corporation with just the shareholder in mind. Cronyism and nepotism drove the company into the ground a long time ago. The ‘good ole days’ as some old timers would call it. The prospect of finding a job outside of xerox was scary but once i made the choice to focused my off hours efforts on finding a job it became easier and easier. I left in 2020 and have not been happier in years. My coworkers are still my friends. Those that are still there I wish them well. But I certainly did not stop trying because the corporation was acting in a way I didn’t like. As soon as that happened I was out. Don’t play the victim. Xerox isn’t doing anything to you. You are doing it to yourself.
