Will you feel proud working in Chemicals department when they are continuously covering up a huge mistake done by a higher up relative and continuously selling the same technology? I feel bad to the customer but I feel pity to this young relative who will not have a chance to know how to live a good life with a good conscience.

Actually Chemicals has some pretty good things going for it. The drilling fluids PL scared me, their tendency of making channel partners wealthy at the expense of the mothership was shocking and the chief was kind of swarmy to me. Not sure he is there anymore, hope we sorted that one out.

Oh lets not ignore the way Chemicals have handled the C*N Account and the repercussions for the wider Business.

Chemicals should be the easiest to run. What has happened is that over the years they’ve lost their identity and their fix has been bringing other leads from the other PLs that don’t get it which further deviates the PL from the rest. Chemicals is unique, yet they want to place that square peg in a round h–e.

SMEs - many of them aren’t chemists. That says a lot.

Too many newbies and fewer and fewer experienced (older) employees. Not enough knowledge transfer and The attrition rate is climbing.

HR is the is all ends all for that division. They don’t have anything organized, there isn’t a career plan, there isn’t support or care of the employees, the Sugar Land location looks like a dumpster, managers and individual groups are cliquish, then they want to throw goofy family events, parties, etc. only to usually be followed with a massive layoff.

The managers are clueless because HR runs the show. They come up with a number to choose and managers have no say on the decision and only face the consequences. Employees see no future in their current role, and see their colleagues picked off one by one. Everyone is scared to speak up, even the managers. Some leaders feel emboldened for being HR’s favorite but the big Boss in the sky is watching. Soon their time will come.

Finally, there are initiatives going on to slash certain groups. It’s like the hunger games. You don’t know who’s ultimately going to take you out, but there is a push to eliminate large portions of each essential group. May the odds be forever in your favor.
