Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Employees Happier

The Home Happier campaign is great for customers, maybe.
On the other hand, Employee Happier.
No not at all. At our store we can't hire anyone, their not even applying. Or when an interview is done (if they actually come in) there told $10
Why ? other retailers starting pay rate is higher.
We're hanging on by a thread, exhausted, stressed, overwhelmed and UN Happier.

Not happier...Most of the associates full and part time got a raise with their 2020 review and I did not. I guess I work too hard, as the ones who got raises stand around and BS all day since we don’t have any customers.

My store is basically ready to revolt. When I began 5 years ago we had around 35 employees. We’re down to 20. I know 2 FT workers on the ropes...and 5 PT’s (including myself) who are just DONE!!

Have fun running a store with 10 employees. You won’t last long. I can attest to this because a nearby store with only 9...was forced to close!!

If you treat your employees like sh*t, they will work at Lowe’s or Target. We don’t have want to go there...but it’s a h–l of a lot better than this sinking ship!!

on the rare occasion we get an applicant, it usually doesn't get much further then the starting wage. i think our store is 9.50, 10, but we have amazon in the area, a target and shopko up the road, a meijer and an aldi across the street, all of which pay more; h–l, most of the fast food places around us are starting at 12 an hour

we can find a new hire here and there, but let's just say we get what we pay for

Starting wage is different based on minimum wage/cost of living. Many/Most larger cities have minimum wages of 12.50 and up. Of course the cost of livng is much higher. An entry level retail job usually pays very low..some retailers bumped up their starting wages ..but seriously..if you are working here and Company XYZ is paying much more..WHY are you still at BBBY?

THEY ARE told (not there). If they are not applying then how do they get an interview? And why are you staying?
