Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Why does SF have to approve me moving?

So I’m one of the LOC employees that just found out will be classified as remote. My supervisor told me that SF has to approve a request for me to move to another state. Why in the world would that matter? Is there any reason they would have an issue with me moving or not approving the move?

For reference I want to move to a lower taxed and warmer state. I have no reason to stay where I am if I am working from home. Serious replies only please! I don’t need the long negative doomsday responses that occur daily here. I’m 4 years in and actually like my job.

I’ve made more off a plant than the boomer that explained internet trolling, and every dollar that person that explained internet trolling I’m sure I tripled yet doubled it.

Pretty good for a loser adjustor huh?

Again post your numbers....let's see them!!! Stick to answering the questions presented. Such a sad existence on this earth just being a troll! Every time you post a st—d comment you become even less relevant...even the author of the post asked you people to not ruin the post and guess what, you did. Hey.... I will join your level....keep posting for that CS job, you will get it (maybe) and will find out you should have stayed a Wal-Mart or at the check out line...capacity issue. SF is full of it in every department and each group of new hires get's worse and worse. It is almost unbelievable the people that are being hired...this site exposes them daily!

In Internet slang, a troll is a person who starts flame wars or intentionally upsets people on the Internet. This is typically done by posting inflammatory and digressive,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog), with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses[2] and normalizing tangential discussion.[3] This is typically for the troll's amusement, or to achieve a specific result such as disrupting a rival's online activities or manipulating a political process.

University of Phoenix not bad. At least he/she did not name call. With your logic, how's that high school level going? Try again.

Harry Hunt is an absolute mo–n. I can tell you his information is complete bs. However if you are in underwriting the next 5-7 will be rough. Personal Lines Mod will automate nearly all USA jobs and many underwriter jobs a way.

I agree with the OP logically. It shouldn’t matter. But there are probably state tax and labor laws that do matter. I don’t blame SF one bit for not wanting to deal with employing people in insane states like California. However if you are moving to a state with an existing employee base, not sure why it would matter.

Regarding the 40% cut!

https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/financial-services/our-insights/insurance-productivity-2030-reimagining-the-insurer-for-the-future. As stated by Tipsy/exec this is our future going forward!

Expense Ratio is right around 37%. i.e...37 cents of every dollar. The other .63 cents+ ..pays claims. We make money on investments....

Rough Basic Breakdown: Do your own math ..for the trolls!
Agents 12-14%-Multichannel- This will go down-how much who knows-they will get theirs for sure!
Marketing 10-11% -Isnt going away and may go up!
Employee and Buildings 10-11%. (here is where you have huge staffing reductions/expense savings)
Licensing, Taxes and Fees 2%-this can't change...

@mrr+1 Plus your location is easily tracked with your IP address

Hmmm-not sure a charge of tax evasion is worth the risk. Plus you could not ever use your medical coverage. Not the best thought out suggestion....

Move to wherever you want and keep a PO Box in your current location or use a friend's address. Remember, yu are only visiting FLorida not living there permanently.

Probably because they don't want employees in employee friendly states. I believe the Hubs are located in right to work states. Easier to fire you and easier for State Farm to avoid unemployment compensation claims.

In the last Post from Harry Hunt —where did you hear they are going to be reducing staffing 40% over the next few years? I haven’t seen that number anywhere

Ok let me give you an example. If you moved to Dallas,TX or Phoenix, AZ then you now become associated to a hub location. It will be how they link you or have you classified. That would mean you would then become a hybrid worker requiring you to come into the office. It's all about legal, lawsuits etc. Also all the other stuff with labor laws, taxes, benefits available for healthcare providers. Also HR policy, ....if in 2 years they return more people or all to office it creates a problem. Also has to do with severance and relocation policy too. Relo only applies if you live within 60 miles of the attached office location/hub. LOC employees will get let go before hub employees or jobs will be migrated to hubs. If they let you move that complicates their 40% staffing reduction over the next 7-8 years. Bottom line, it is a control game and they want to dictate to employees and not the other way around. Remember that want you to leave! Don't ever forget that!

Also your salary may be a factor. Moving from bumfck Arkansas/Kentucky/Alabama etc... to San Francisco would mean paying you more $$$ (for example).

You’ll never win this situation your best bet is to actually apply for a more progressive company. I’m in the work of interviewing full time wfh where location doesn’t matter. I could move to another country LOL.
