Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

How worth is it to work extra hours?

Yeah... working extra hours and only getting credit for less than 6.... Had an (...) manager that worried about people starting 5 to 10 minutes late calling the entire team on a regular basis in the morning to ask "where you at and what are you doing"...
But never recognized people working through their lunch hours and getting home after 6:30 every evening. I know, I know... if he recognized the extra time worked overtime would be common place and we all know overtime is NOT allowed.
The point is working 10 plus hours to get 6 hours of credit is the NEW Xerox.

@cexx+1a9ROzEB, this was my situation until I realized that it is much smarter to invest extra hours in looking for a new job. Working extra hours in this company is not worth it. Perhaps somewhere else is, but definitely not here.

Not worth it ... Todays Management doesn’t
recognize people doing extra. Given all the reductions people are doing double and triple workloads..Just not worth the time and stress ..Give an honest 8 hours and call it a day ..

The only extra hours I'm working are on LinkedIn and my resume.

As long as you are getting paid, but sooner or later the corporate raider shareholder will hire temp agencies to intimidate you.

There was a story of a temp contractor who was warned by a Xerox executive in Toronto that if he submitted overtime in his time sheet, she would refuse it.

The catch was that the temp contractor was given work before he left to avoid working past the weekly 40 hours.

Unfortunately sounds like a typical manager at todays Xerox..Small minded, afraid to make decisions and quick to blame ..I worked for a quite a few ... The really good managers were driven off or left.

Agreed with last poster. Phone in the job, do bare minimum while you apply to a good company that is not in a de–h spiral.
