Is anyone else's Backstage just out of control? I mean we are receiving at least 120 boxes of B.S. merch six days a week. Who's buying all this garbage? Because shoppers certainly aren't. We have so much our VPSM told us to merchandise it into the big box. We are becoming a giant backstage store.

We used to have a Backstage Manager but now the position was eliminated so our neighborhood store only has one sales manager. Three people in Backstage have quit in the last two months and the store manager says we can't hire because of systems issues. Cheap junk from China coming in every day with not enough people to put it out. The only good news is that we now have something to put in all of our empty stockrooms in main part of the store, what is going on?
Backstage associates in our store is part of the pilot program.

Backstage associates do everything related to backstage, just as you described except for processing backstage stock but they sometimes help with that. Backstage is like it's own independent mini store basically, so they do everything from selling, markdowns, putting out stock, damages etc.
Does anyone else's backstage consist of 2-3 associates who are running the whole store? Ringing, putting out stock, coming in early to do markdowns, and also resetting the floor when need be
Just like Kmart and Sears were near the end. Only merchandise they could get was the "cheap Chinese junk that is even cheaper and shittier than the normal Chinese junk" to stock the shelves with. No vendor is going to ship to this dead company anymore. Too risky.
Does bs stand for bull _ _ _ _ merchandise???
Yes we have been receiving a lot of backstage merch also but haven't really had to place it with regular Macy's merch. Our backstage area stays busy although sales are down from before, not sure if it's because of the covid or because we now don't have a backstage manager, or both.
