If any of these people worked on IGEL I can see why they’d be terminated. It’s absolutely terrible. Our computer systems are the worst they’ve been in 20 years, apparently we hire people the other companies don’t want.

As a current long term developer ( over 10 years ) for Walmart, I have seen cycles like this before. I would say this cycle has been the worst of all of them. Global Tech has put in a rating system that favors people bringing in new tech to solve a problem or create a system. I have seen development teams bring in new tech just for one function or so and end up with 10-20 different technologies that they have to support at any one time. I personally have solved problems with 'old' tech that others have said that we 'must' bring in new tech to solve. I also have been involved with projects and my expertise and knowledge was not used and the project go way over time and budget just because everyone else wanted to be the shinning star in order to maybe get a bigger bonus. The time to simplify and focus was yesterday for Walmart. So if you want a cut-throat environment search for open jobs.

Walmart tech has a ton of managers but very little development resources(not the copy and paste trash developers). Its pretty obvious where the company is going and its definitely not the digital age. Watch carefully as this company keeps getting divested. Youll eventually be replaced.

As a developer and as someone more on the technical side, i would recommend others to stay 6ft away from this place. Unless you like to clean data that the vendors and noob developers trashed.

They want to replace the very few usa developers with developers from india. Im at the point now where i refuse to train them for the sake of my country and it's future. They spent all there money on managers and probably realized that it aint moving s–t forward.
