Returned from furlough experiences

It would have been better if I had never come back from furlough. I don’t know what your experiences are but for me it’s worse than ever. I worked here for many years but since I came back I have a feeling that I just started in this company. A lot has changed. How much worse (or better) are your experiences after you came back from furlough?

When we came back and changes took place here at Cool springs we got a new manager who ikes to micromanage. Morale is low. She on vacation this week and can tell the difference when she not here.

The morale went down the toilet in my store. I can think of one person that actually enjoys being there. Short staffed, dirty, rats, unreasonable expectations, micromanagement, no customers etc. That’s how it’s different.

Loved my job as lead merchant which I held for over 15 years. After being called back from furlough, it was a whole new world. The leadership in our store was disrespectful to all. The job became so unbearable that I resigned after 30 years. I would have never guessed that a year ago things would be so bad. I miss being part of my team but definitely feel it was the right decision. I will remember the glory days and try to forget this last year.

I wish I had remained in furlough. I like to work and hated not being able to work because of the covid. I did enjoy collecting unemployment but I didn't want to do it for too long. Once I was called back, it seemed as if we would continue business as before...but then the changes came along. People were being let go, positions eliminated, severance packages were given, others never returned. Our VPSM was blindsided and was let go. The new VPSM doesn't know how to treat people with respect, so people leaders are leaving slowly but surely. I'm willing to bet the management team will be all new faces before the end of the year, which would most likely hurt the store because our store is in a location that is hard to attract and retain good talent. This is tough because we are losing good talent as a result of the VPSM.
It doesn't help that we are short on help and that just adds more stress on everyone.
