Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

The "Chesapeake Family"

Repeatedly on this site, employees, even former employees having been terminated, refer to their “Chesapeake Family.”
Of course, there ain’t no Chesapeake Family and there never has been. The moment you become inconvenient, CHK drops you like a hot coal.
In that regard, today I read an article on Google about how cults rely on the fictional “Family” dynamic to get people to do or put up with things they normally never would.
How much does your decades of work count with publicly held companies? A commenter described the contents of a memo from a large corporation’s high paid “consultants” stating that the only way to change corporate culture was to remove “institutional memory” by firing all the old timers and bringing in young people they could pay very little. The executive board loved the idea.
The moral to the story was that any employer that tries to play the “Family” card needs to be avoided like the plague.
If only…

Well when you do a damn good job and get tossed out like a peace of trash. That's how CHK works. When they try and save money people get hurt. And CHK will not take blame for it, they those the blame on other good people. Tell you what get rid of those worthless safety people you have and save a s–tload of money. Hire people that know equipment and has been in the field instead of all those wannabe CSP and ASP.

There are three groups of employees-
The boys club (safest)
The Texas Tech grads (safe)
The next to be laid off (need to be job hunting)

“You are either good at your job and you keep it or you are a turd and lose it.” That’s so true, but only for the delusional and in Knucklehead Land.
I suspect that you’re one of the untalented “yes” men that irrationally keep jobs because you are willing to accept little money and don’t care if you are incompetent. I’ve seen your type: as long as you get a pay check you will stay self-righteous no matter how much you are stinking the place up.
Incidentally, in light of 20+ years of massive operating losses—who was making CHK money? Not Doug Lowler. Not Kirkland and Ellis with their schemes. Quite the contrary. Why do Lowler and Del Losso have jobs and Kirkland and Ellis still billing if making money is the benchmark?

Boo fn who get to work!! If you’re chit at your job don’t blame anyone else. You are either good at your job and you keep it or you are a turd and lose it. There’s always a spot for people that make the company money at any job.
