Let it go. Let it go. The Belk family doesn't owe any employees anything. Sorry but you should have seen this coming years ago and started preparing yourselves.

i think your right i'm just going to have to give up on the belk family but i really don't want it to end this way
It takes a lot of work, innovation, upgrades, money to get this company back on track. You have to have the right people in the right positions with a real vision for the future of Belk. It would all take a lot time. I think if Tim Belk thought he could take the company that far he would have kept it. The nature of retail has changed so much. I think if he had not sold he would have to shut stores anyway for the reasons others have posted on this site.

i know how stupid this post sounds but we just can't let the whole company fail because we didn't try every atempt at saving belk tim belk might not have the power to do something now but when belk collapses we should convince him to buy the belk name back and the most successfull stores the ones that truly are pieces of southern style and grace a whole reshaping like this could but belk back on track to success but only someone that invisioned these grand places to be bulit like tim belk would care enough to retry it all over again
"This is the dumbest post ever."
I agree 100%.
This is the dumbest post ever. Tim Belk sold the company. He has no connection to it. sycamore wants belk to fail, that’s their business strategy, then they move on to the next company. belk has a limited lifespan left.
You have very large expectations of Tim Belk. Keep in mind why he sold the company and the financial condition it was in when he did so. Belk needs a makeover. The MSH brand is played out. Also, Tim Belk doesnt owe anybody anything.
a small attempt might work use the best most upbeat stores relaunch the southern style that we all love and desire and if he can't do this then he should gives us a apology for what has happened to belk only his words can help give us the final grace that belk deserve's and well to all of us and the nation about these capital hedge funds it's a symbolic message for the south that his voice and judgment holds for himself and for all of us
This is business. The company is sold. There isn't anything he can do. It's not about some moral obligation to Belk employees. If you're an employee, you might really want to start preparing yourself for the possibility of being laid off in the future because Tim Belk can't save us.
faith to god he is a religious man just like most of the south he just cant let all these once loyal friends and coworkers without a job it's immoral to harm innocent people especially for those that worked for his wealth he must do the right moral action to help his neighbors
The south will survive, even without Belk. Unfortunately many people , including myself, might be unemployed. I haven't been with the company for a super long time, but the word from people who have been with Belk for decades is always, "it's not what it used to be." Shoppers adjust and move on, as many are doing now.
And what exactly is modern southern style? One of the biggest problems with Belk is that it suffers from a major identity crisis. It's no longer certain of what it is, what it wants to be, or how to bring in new customers.
Why do you think he’d care? Seriously, honest question.
if we contact him we can tell him do not let the loyal employees customers and the south to lose the faith of a good man's honor's of promise to his neighbors of modern southern style without him the south will lose grace tradition and meaning and no one also can provide a feeling like a dress or suite and the home life style that the belk family provided we need to tell him do not let belk end this way it's to beloved to us all dearly because like he said the south is a life style there is no place quite like it anywhere else he just can't let it end this way when he can do something about it
Let's say he's contacted. What do you expect him to do?
wait can we contact them through the're farm ?
they tried so hard not to sell to a private equity firm they searched for two years looking for a buyer
Why? He sold the company to a private equity firm. He knows the reputation these firms have regarding retail businesses. All he had to do is enter a Belk store to see what's going on, and come here and read the comments.
