I understand that many businesses encourage their employees to get a COVID vaccination, but can you remind the managers that the employees' vaccination status is protected medical information? Thank you!

Macy*s or any other retailer isn't going to require this vaccine. Do they 'require' you get get a flu shot, or show proof of vaccination for Polio, Shingles and so on. Could they give you an incentive to get the shot? Yes they could. As for health care it can vary by state, but for most it's not required at this time. Two years from now (in health care), I bet it will be just like a flu shot.
Also keep in mind if YOU tell someone your information they will repeat it. Just like when folks say " I got the flu shot' you are not implying that this is confidential information. In the case of immunizations they are covered under HIPPAA and the company could share it with written permission. But my guess is one person told another and off it went.
FYI all three vaccines are FDA approved for Emergency. Fact check!
Once the word "emergency" is removed from the vaccine an employer can require employees to get the vaccine. Check labor laws and court decisions.
AMEM yes it’s HIPPA and that’s patient privacy. Right now No one is forcing you to get vaccine but it’s all up to the individual states.,and whatever this So called government will come up with next.. but most places still require to wear face mask..take it day by day.. when in doubt check with your HR and local state officials.. working in a hospital it was not mandatory that all our employees get the vaccine but we are all to still wear masks and respirators in the entire hospital..
Macy’s cannot require an employee to prove they received the vaccine unless they require all employees to be vaccinated. Doubt that will be the case.

Let's learn how to spell HIPAA and learn what each letter stands for and it's significance before we start getting preachy.
Its a HIPPA violation if the doctor tells them. They can require you to prove you had it. Just like kids and school shots.
To choose vaccination is a personal choice. Currently any vaccine available is not FDA approved, only given EAU. Exactly why no corporation can require it, and your choice is protected by HIPPA.
