My 20 year old daughter worked at Belk from August 2019-March 2020 (when closed for covid) and was payed incorrectly multiple times during her time there. They would always have an excuse as to why her pay was incorrect, often blaming her for time card errors. It is not the employees responsibility to make sure the time clock is operating properly, it is the employers. She also was called to come in on a moments notice or when she was at school, she was told she was “required” to work on certain days, however she was an hourly part time employee, she was by no means “under contract” to work certain days, very bizarre company to work for, and the pay was dismal. I told her to stop going and she eventually found something better. I can’t believe in 2020 a company was operating like this.

Oh, so you’re basically one of the reasons that their profitability is low and the rest of us (honest) employees are stuck making c––p? 👏 Good job.
I made $10 but I figured a good way to steal from them so I was making a helluva lot more
It’s funny how if a time card error is in Belk’s favor it’s not “corrected” and the employee is cheated out of pay, if it’s in the employees favor then it is corrected immediately. That is what they call time theft.
2nd that opinion! How many times was I told that it was 'mandatory' to work on any given day. I worked there for 9 1/2 years for the princely ending pay of $9.60 per hour. All those many years, people were hired after me with that as their STARTING pay! I was told I could not be given any more because the previous manager hired me at that rate.
I could fill a book with a litany of grievances.
Rotten place to work. I finally WALKED out.
Oh it was . We went from time card to finger scanning and it was all the time cheating people if they didn't keep an eye on it. I had to get out of there. Glad she did to.
