Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Ghana Sale

More “buy high, SELL LOW” and the stock market hates it - Oxy down way more than peer group today. Nice work Vicki on “executing the plan”.

The Dream Team, with full urging of the f-t-fee investment bankers, advised Vicki to do the deal. Dream Teamer Oscar took the fall along with salesman Cedric after the weakened company further flopped and all credibility was lost. There were many others who recognized it was a st—d deal before it closed but not in a position to overrule the esteemed Dream Team. Some of these people later left in disgust and some remain at Oxy.
From the beginning the “advisors’” interests were misaligned with those of the shareholders, but that’s a story for business school. Regardless, the buck stops at Vicki and somehow she is still there grinding the gears.

I thought we were an oil company making money off of producing and selling oil and gas. The other stuff is just for show.

VH does not care about the core business, she is now a celebrity because of LCV. She is touted as an innovator and first mover in this area. And don’t get me wrong I am proud of LCV and their results but the value of Oxy is not LCV alone.

We will see if she gets voted out this time. Right now the company has been reduced to some rinky-dink oil company. Uncle Ray must be so surprised and disappointed at how this all ended up.

VH messed up big time and failed to do due diligence
She should have been run off for the damage she has done to the company
And no she talking down shale and talking up OPEC FFS

Who else was around at the time to provide advice for the decision to make the deal? CEOs don’t operate in a vacuum. If you have people who don’t speak up they should be gone. Maybe they have been removed by this time.

Good news is she knows that now. Bad news is all the stuff she still doesn't know, like shale is a ponzi scheme.

She could have googled - ‘will the Algerians do a deal with the French?’
Alexa: ‘are you insane? France colonized Africa - for someone so WOKE you should have known that!!!’

Right, like anyone would think to google French Algerian civil war. That makes sense. I google it all the time.

An intern could have done a better job putting this deal together.

Better question is, can Vicki find Ghana on a map? She’s the one who botched the African asset ‘presale’! Shooting from the hip is no way to run a company.

OP, I’m sure you could do better. Can you even find Ghana on a map? LMFAO!

VH's only plan is to look out for herself. Has been and is totally incompetent.

Wow. 75% of the deal in the shale. This might be a problem with all of that debt.

same stock reaction after the Colombian fire-sale. Sell, sell, sell. Remember, "75% of the deal is in the shale"
