Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Drastic Cost cutting is a sign that the end is on the horizon

Cost cutting to this level is not normal, sure companies (retail and other types) must be cautious with money in these times, but what Belk is doing is not normal. plus at Belk all the money theY save by not paying employee raises, vendors etc...goes right into the pockets of sleezebags Harper, Hendricks, Hawkins, Riggs, Patel, and Kaluzny. This is truly a scam that will come crashing down soon. Don’t believe the bull about $225 million From sycamore for new investments, blah blah blah....all smoke and mirrors from a group of cons.

I guess we will be the last to know when they close
I realized long ago, Belk will use you for as long as they can. They only care about emails, credit cards, and how much money they can pull in.
Theres more to customer service than acquiring emails, they can be sold to third parties, and credit cards with a 24+ interest.
Sales associates are constantly pressured for more emails, and credit cards. They've even posted who the Hero's and Zero's are, on the bulletin board. It's got so bad, associates make up emails, and claim to previous Belk card customers, they're upgrading their Belk card, just so they csn earn credits.
They claim they're a family oriented business, BS, you may be called into work one to two days notice. We've hardly ever had a schedule two weeks ahead of time. So you're expected to drop any appointment, family, friend, or any other activity you may have planned.
I've seen elderly, and injured people stand on their feet working all day. You'd think they'd have some compassion and give them a stool, no, you are only an employee ID to them.
If you leave your register to go to the bathroom, they'll call, come to you and ask where you were, or stalk the store.
We have, managers who cover for each other, that employees have complained about to HR, and quit because of nothing being done, managers who have "pet"
associates, who have more freedoms, than those of us who who have to follow the rules.
But then we have those HR/managers who we relate to and respect, who should have more authority in the store.
Most all of our associates are helpful, work as a team, and deserve better advancement, and treatment.
The associates those who greet, help, and serve the customers, the ones who keep your store running, those you fail to acknowledge, and respect.
You need to stand in their shoes, work their hours, and see how it feels to receive that measly paycheck.
