Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

We can't expect a long career anymore?

I agree that this industry is no longer a stable career path, but can one still expect a longer career in SF than in other companies in this field? It seems to me that we can, or at least I hope so.
I did not get a job with the intention of retiring here, but I would still like to stay for at least another 5-6 years.

If youre in claims, you would be wise to get out.. or start your own independent adjusting firm. Allstate is moving theirs to India. If sf could find a way to offload it without sacrificing brand value/reputation, they would. Average or better is the goal, not cream of the crop any more, for claim service .

Nope, upper management said the dreaded word "transformation". They are going to transform state farm. anyone paying attention to the last 10 years knows transformation is hipster speak for "we want as few humans as possible, and paid as little as possible"

This is going to translate into massive instability.

Look at what they are doing to prepare, already forming cross department flex workers, already dragging people into AILR and TL two departments everyone flees due to toxic managers, insane metrics, and almost zero upward mobility. They are doing this because they are planning for there to be LOTS of "empty seats" across the board and will need people to ping pong around for a while as people flee "transformation" processes.

State Farm doesnt do layoffs. They close your location and offer a cross country move at your expense option, or play the attrition game....you know where they just stop hiring people and let their natural, incredibly high, attrition do the layoffs for them.

I wouldnt actually be surprised if State Farm goes down to bloomington and atlanta alone within the next 4 years.

bad times ahead for insurance adjusters, not just at SF but all companies.

SF is a death trap and the worst kind of worst. It's like being with a girlfriend that is just stringing you along until she finds someone a little better looking, drives a nicer car, better job and more money. She will use you for the wedding she needs to attend and her cousins graduation...ohhh and she will get the number of the hot groomsmen when you are off in the buffet line!

Systems is deceitful. The roles are as well

The only area that seems to not have a high turn over is in systems. A big part of the problem is that claims won’t allow you to post or leave

Pretty much. No loyalty anymore. I had hoped to stay for a long time but it's clearer by the day I'll probably be hopping around.
