Top worst moves

This thing with VP Integrated Services is a disaster. I agree with someone who said that this is just another in a series of "brilliant strategies of our management". / sarc. I haven’t been in this company for a long time but I'm wondering, have there been many such “brilliant strategies” before? What were definitely the worst and most irrational moves? Every since I’ve been here, I've only seen them make terrible decisions, unfortunately.

Weatherford- you’re hired! Congratulations.

Now hire a friend to do the idea I stole from slb - Hal BHI etc don’t worry we have
1)Creative accounting champions - will make the numbers work...
2) If it doesn’t hire another friend.
3) I will blame and fire you, but will not learn any lessons.

3 times they tried to hire myself, they had no clue (zero) other than waving money.

Spot on. Awful. Book sales on inventories that were hidden at the freight forwarders. Manufacturing and Procurement were awful. Product was never delivered and may still be at Panalpina rusting away. Very ugly and bankruptcy again within 12 months. Was a wonderful profitable company 10 years ago

How far shall I go back? Major FCPA infractions, culture of revenue not profit, promoting friends not capabilities, recruiting from outside and not from within, trying to be Baker or SLB by using their rejects, and not focusing at what we were good at. Executive packages that were out of control, executive travel that was too! I I continue if will crash the server.

Pair down the SL. If the SL has not been performing to its market peers then out the VP and promote rom within. Don’t just look at the hierarchy have a internal competition. If not internally grown then not a candidate. Education, experience. Then build the culture and remove the waste.

Pet projects such as Solid Expandables that drained resources from other groups and provided no return on investment. Bringing in Accenture. Spending a fortune undoing the Accenture mess. The clown show that was the accounting department responsible for massive earnings restatements and a complete destruction of the stock value. Inventory management issues that hampered profitability going unresolved for years. Any number of acquisitions that were never vetted properly or not integrated properly afterwards and so on...
