Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

What would you do differently?

If there’s something that bothers me, and it’s within my power to change it, I will change it. If something bothers me but I’m powerless to change It, I accept it, and move on.

That’s exactly it. I didn’t take layoff very personally. It’s very clear to me that I was just a number and that no matter how hard I worked, it didn’t mean much to them. However, now I wonder if I could have changed my approach to work and the job that cost me my health. Maybe I could have left earlier.

Don’t keep second guessing yourself. The decisions were based not on who’s getting cut, but who do they want to keep around. High profile brown nosers? Check! Loudmouth show offs? Check! People with no discernible skills other than whining about D&I? Check! Young, cheap staff that won’t cost too many dineros? Check!
All others?
Out!
Conocophillips is a small time clown car of a company acting like a super major. Be happy you’re out of the pressure cooker.

I was in the same situation as you. It is best to look forward. Your health can be greatly improved by taking the time you have now to adopt habits to make yourself more healthy and exercise more and eat right....things that often fall to the bottom of the list after a long, stressful day. And just that you no longer in that environment will do wonders for you. I am healthier and happier now than I ever was working at COP. I work for myself now and work more hours but am so much happier it doesn't even seem like work. Anyway, best wishes!!
