I find it funny that some colleagues try to look busy when the manager is around, and as soon as he is not there, they slack off to the maximum.
Sometimes I think that I should also use this tactic because while I give my best all the time and in return I get nothing, such people progress much faster in this ridiculous company. /s

Right. Learn the game and play it well. No one wants to work lol
In retail-especially big stores- takes long time to be recognized for work you do, because just like you said, you do the job while others slacking, and managers are not there to see. Tomorrow you off, and your boss really impressed of things being done and your phony coworkers get all the credit. Sad normal retail reality.
This happens everywhere at every company.
