Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Why are more experienced ones unwilling to share their knowledge?

Before coming to CS I didn’t have any great experience. I worked for a short time at two smaller banks and when I got a job here I was thrilled because I thought I would have a lot to learn from older and more experienced colleagues. I was pretty disappointed. Sometimes I have a feeling that they are irritated by my enthusiasm and desire to learn as much as I can.

What department are you in? In my time there, I remember the occasional eager beaver, they usually burned themselves out in 6 months to a year. In many areas, it’s just a call Center job no matter how they spew the engaged financial professional nonsense

The first post is accurate. If they share their knowledge and you have youth and enthusiasm on your side you might be and to do their job and they might be out if one. The company loves the younger 40 or less but doesn’t give them much room to grow or excel

Insecurity, especially if you are young and eager to learn. They know that showing you the ropes they train their own replacements. Have fun with them, but go easy.
