It's official: HP Inc. Puerto Rico will be ceasing operations starting November of this year and ending on April 2022. Severance will equal 3 months salary plus two weeks per year, up to a maximum of 9 months (or basically, up to a years salary for people with more than 15 years of service).
Hewlett Packard Enterprise has local operations as well. Rumors are a similar announcement will be made around the end of Q4'2021 (either on September or October).
HP will never allow full time work from home except in special cases or short term. Those people foolish enough to move more than an acceptable commute distance from the office are about to get burned.
When HP needs to make another round of cuts, they will tell people to come back to the office or they are fired. They did it before and they will do it again.
You were warned over and over. Don't move to some remote location too far to drive to an office. It's a trap.
I wonder how HP will replace the PR tax advantage.
Been getting emails in Houston lately about being able to sign up for a time to gather your things from the office. Notice how I carefully worded that last sentence. Of course these emails are not target towards me but it makes you skeptical about something:
Either people are forced to work-from-home or they’re getting laid off. The latter would assume that CREWS is being discrete about layoffs.
But these layoffs shouldn’t be a huge surprise because even before COVID, we knew that Enrique had a goal to layoff people in rounds until 2022. COVID and the chip shortage just happened to be right around the corner when it all started, which really justifies the layoffs even more sadly.
