Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Everyone knows their future here

Why is everyone complaining? We knew the future of BBB when employees were getting laid off en masse and store closures were being done regularly, with more to be completed within 2 years. But here some of you are complaining how the company is doing you wrong. You are getting paid to provide a service and are not entitled to anything more - or less. Stop acting like BBB owes you anything other than a paycheck. I probably hate working here more than any of you, but I’m not going to sit here and complain about a company that is helping me to pay my bills. Some of you need to grow up.

I know my days are numbered because I cannot stand all the change occurring around me, and the fact that they don’t pay me enough and have enough employees to even care!! I know some retail places are having this same issue but my goal is to finally get OUT of retail!!

Unless you are a manager or can be used for online fulfillment and curbside orders your days are numbered!! The writing is on the wall. It’s just a matter of whether you leave first on your own or if you suffer til things get closer to the end.

Yes..you are correct about the main page. I do think there are more posts about non layoff matters. And I also think layoffs can be positive..it can kick people into another job

More store closures are coming soon, so there will be less people to complain on this board.

main page: "News, personal experiences, rumors and speculations about layoffs at your company"

I've never known layoffs to be a positive thing

You are joking right? You think the sole purpose of this board is about negative news?

then why are you on a site, literally called thelayoff, that's sole purpose is to converse about negative news?

I disagree. That’s why I replace big, clunky items with smaller, expensive items and use employee discount to resell item for profit. Or if you are not a key holder as myself, just damage goods/box abit to get 30-35% Off.

It seems like everyone in Bed Bath outside of corporate is just running out the clock until this store has another major transition period such as a potential bankruptcy or another mass layoff like we did last year. The management in the multiple locations I have worked at especially over the last few months just seemed sort of checked out outside of an obligatory “work on xyz,” with so much uncertainty with this company. This job is no different from any other retail job in all honesty.

They pay us to perform our job, sell the credit card and get email sign ups. Do your job and shut up or quit. They have made so many positive changes. People in general are just shopping differently now. That trend started years ago the pandemic just fortified it.

I agree! Some people are blind to.anything positive happening. MT increased sales at Target which is why he was recruited. Then the pandemic. Consumers were already shopping online but that increased dramatically during Covid. Are layoffs fun? Of course not..are all these changes always fun? Of course not. Read some other blogs on here..same story..different place. Work is not always fun. But cant you at least try to think positive?
