Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Do nothing extra?

Ever since I started working here, I have always done a lot more than is in my job description. That has never changed. Some people say they refuse to do anything that goes beyond the scope of their job, however, I am in such a situation that I simply have a feeling that I will either do what is required of me or I will find myself on the layoff list next time.

put in extra effort, go the extra mile ... this is a known problem throughout most industries. It is a fact, I wonder if it is just human nature. The more you do, the more they give you to do. And they will not compensate you unless you scream. I call it the last straw syndrome. They pile the straw onto the donkey's back until it kicks. That is a sign it is too much and they overloaded the donkey. Now some id--t managers will try to whip the donkey into holding the load, with lies like, it's only this time, etc.
Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

The stock should be worth 5 - 6 x or more if you compare the volume to our peers. It’s worthless.

I've seen it time & time again great guys let go & lazy people kept on.

At times there is no rhyme or reason why or who they let go. You could be a GREAT working, when your times up, it's up.

No sure I’ll blame HR. It’s just incompetent managers who can’t seem to see value in the people who work for them. HR just does whatever they’re told by these managers.

i used to put in extra effort, go the extra mile if you will. stay an extra 15 minutes past my shift to finish off that last work order. but over the years (started in 2010) i noticed that if you do they will only pile on more work with no extra incentives other than "be grateful you have a job" and push to have this work done on unpaid days off. Its a two way street but WFD doesn't see it that way. I do my bare minimum now, enough that the bosses are happy but not so much that they will lay off the guy beside me. i don't believe anymore that there is any job security at weatherford no matter what effort you put in. they have laid off guys who actually made a difference over the years, made or saved the company thousands of dollars yet hold onto guys with bad safety records, poor performance, or bad attitudes only because they made slightly less than the one they let go.

Don't be fooled, i am grateful to have a job, in fact i can say i like my job and the people i work with. But I'm not blind to Weatherfords inability to value their staff. when the company gives it 100 percent or more to their staff, they will get the same back. but until then, this company will just coast like they have been.

It’s true, all the guys who went the extra mile got the chop, Weatherford HR sure know how to make a bad situation worse.

The ones that do extra are usually the first on the layoff list unless you have a buddy in high places.

I’ve literally done nothing, never mind extra, for 10 years, still not found out. I’m not ashamed to admit it due to the way good friends have been treated. I run a side business from my desk/home which earn more from. Won’t be stopping this as long as WFT exist. Come find me HR, UK is all I’ll give.
