The move to Texas reminds me of when Chevron retained 300 HQ staff in downtown San Francisco and when Union had a similar small top staff hideout in Los Angeles. Then one day the whole HQ closed up and moved. Those selling California real estate will get rich, move and retire to Texas where they get their lump sum tax free.

That’s global climate change not infrastructure... can’t speak to the coal plant (don’t live in cali and would never personally live there) but the water and intentional power outages........ if texas is hit w one natural weather disaster and it’s entire grid goes to SH*t... it wouldn’t survive what Californians handle for very long, really not even for a second

So do you really want to talk about infrastructure coming from a state where the power goes off during windy fire season, the farmers don't have water, electricity comes from a coal-fired power plants OUTSIDE of California(operated by Los Angles), and you're about to decom the Diablo Canyon nukes while you mandate an all electric car future? Yeah, probably not.

I agree this seems like market timing as the Bay Area housing market has gone berserk. $500/sq ft is typical and over bids are nuts.
I would rather live in a blue state than one that wants to hand out guns to everyone old enough to walk, doesn’t want to let non wh---s vote and totally ignores its infrastructure that left millions without power and water for days on end.
Texas is plenty nice for someone that does not want to live under the thumb of blue state politics & policies.
Most Chevron upper management establish a home in Nevada, Texas or Florida once they see the tax bite on their RRP. It is enormous once you are PSG 30 or so.
Rich people don't retire to Texas. They have the money to retire to someplace nice. Also, the high property taxes on your dream home will chew into your state income tax savings.
The park is not for sale. There have been several inquires over the past 10 years about a purchase but the dollars have never been there. We have entertained offers and discussions in the past but nothing really moved forward. I can guarantee you that if Google or a number of other companies wanted to expand their campuses and they made a reasonable offer, MW would take it in a second. We do have options on a number of properties North of Houston and Northwest but we have not moved on any of them especially with the current market.
I would not expect anything to happen any time soon so you can probably archive this thread.
