Surveillance for hybrid work schedule

What special surveillance does The Company have planned for when the hybrid work schedule goes into effect. There are many different non-video or non-audio techniques. Constant video and audio would be way too intrusive but they could have a motion sensor to tell them if you are in front of your monitor or not.

There will be non-descript vans with lots of antennaes poking out parked outside your house.

Kind of s stupid question. If they have not been doing it while we are home for the last 15 months why now. If they want to check on people they can Tues-Thurs while at the office.

Looks like I need to get a cat . . . one big enough to set off motion detectors.

Just saying it is illegal to share Salary schedules if you violate antitrust laws. There is a push in Washington to send people to jail for these offenses.

@1axx- Who said companies are directly sharing salary or total compensation data? Interesting how you jumped to that conclusion from the observation that companies are simultaneously matching each other's new work schedules.

Are you the guy who keeps squawking about how the company should reduce our salaries if we aren't in the office five days a week? Don't worry, our work gets done independent of our location.

Whats wrong with you folks on this? Attributing issues and questions to Boomers. How RUDE of you all and pray some of you are NOT on my Team! I am a Boomer and am happy with the new Schedule. So are other Boomers! Stop blaming Boomers! Get a life and back to work! You should work with Integrity and not care about OXY monitoring you. In this day and age, companies do have the right to monitor employees as long as its not invasive and unconstitutional.

Companies cannot talk to one another about salaries. Instead the information is shared data compiled by 3rd party surveys. It is likely the same way with plans for future benefits impacting total compensation. Anything hinting of collusion is prohibited.

They are just trying to entice people back to the office.

Schlumberger and Chevron have announced identical hybrid work schedules. Clearly these companies talk and realize the change is necessary to compete for new employees.

The person who hates this "new normal" is not a current employee, but rather an ex-employee who's just jealous he left before the change. Probably the same dude who bet his entire retirement portfolio on one stock... OXY! Ouch.

The comment below is on point. It reminds me of a manager I used to have that didn’t let us wear headphones while doing our work in the office. If we get our work done, why should it matter if we wear headphones at our desk? If we get our work done, why should you care if it’s in the office or from home? Oh, that’s right, you are probably one of those middle level, toxic micro managers OXY is known to have all throughout the organization. Harder to micromanage and have people hate their job when they are at home right? Here’s a newsflash to all you ticked off boomers who can’t accept the BWP that is being rolled out. This plan is here to stay unless we are told otherwise and we haven’t been told otherwise. You people spreading rumors saying we will be back in the office 5 days a week in less than a year are the same people who were saying we would be back in the office by July 2020, October 2020, January 2021, etc.., the fact is you don’t know anything more than the rest of us, you are just hoping this plan isn’t permanent since you didn’t get your way when the employees voted for hybrid.

Some of the comments saying “OXY is going to have everyone back in the office 5 days a week in less than a year” or “the corporate world needs people in the office Monday through Friday” are such past ways of thinking. Truly ignorant and a closed minded ways of thinking. It’s clearly an older OXY employee (my guess is late 40s or early 50s), who hates that OXY is changing with the times. They can’t stand the idea that they didn’t get their way when OXY execs sent out a poll asking employees what their preference was for return to work after 15 months at home.

Some of the over 55s just can’t except that the world is changing. It’s kind of amusing, y’all please do the rest of us a favor and retire already.

The comment below is so id--tic and based on absolutely nothing. Shut your mouth boomer. When you set a precedent, it’s near impossible to go back on it.

It seems that after this covid crisis plays out we might be left with a four day work week, in the office Monday through Thursday. Those more motivated or with very responsible positions will work from home as needed on the Fridays or come into the office. Hey, this sounds like pre-covid. The business world works on Monday through Friday. Sorry, but that is just the way it is. You will still have people from outside the company wanting to meet in person on Monday so some will have to come to the office. You will still have inperson training that will have to run longer than 3 days to be effective. Some will have to come in for that too.
Never mind what has happened over the past 15 months. Once the businesses come back you will be back to normal within a year. Not a baby boomer mad thing but just the way it will be. And this is not executives taking back anything. They just are not telling you everything about the plan.

Imagine believing Oxy has the technical capability or financial cash flow to support the implementation of tracking tools. They cannot even guarantee the integrity of core IT infrastructure and you somehow think they can handle more. Oxymorons indeed.

So much paranoia. If you slack off on Mondays and Fridays your manager will know. Either they will cover for you at their own risk or you will go down. Same as if you slack off while you’re in the office.

Seriously, why the hybrid schedule. Are executives so intimidated by the millennials they just can’t put their foot down. I doubt it. In the past they would have said get into the office 4-5 days out of the week or you are fired. It’s not just Oxy it is the entire corporate world that has gone crazy. They really don’t give a rats a-s about your work/life balance or commute or anything that relates to you. So what’s in it for the corporations. There must be a dollar value to letting you have your way. Might be lower rate of salary/ benefit increase or a smaller workforce. It could be they just want to be WOKE in as many ways as they can.

It won’t fall apart. We proved to the execs we can WFH and be effective for almost 15 months. Vicki and the execs couldn’t possibly go back on this after making this the status quo and go forward plan based on surveys given to all the employees. I can tell you are ignorant af and probably are just mad that oxys toxic past culture of micromanaging is finally going away for good.

Twenty percent of the people can’t even be trusted when they are in the office. How can they be trusted at home. You not only get paid for results but for time on the clock, even for professionals. Now that you have convinced the executives to go with the hybrid program this is no longer a temporary solution to the Covid crisis but is to last forever according to many people. But what they aren’t telling you is that this will revert to the pre-covid schedule when the hybrid plan falls apart. Which it will.

Get a life loser. The company hires people to do a job and they are going to trust their people to do their job without anything you are suggesting.

Way too much trouble to do all of that. Simple periodic screen captures, keystroke logging and proxy logs have worked for decades for this sort of thing. Still working just fine today.
