Thread regarding Emerson Electric Co. layoffs

Out of the weeds at RAS

In spite of the hearsay, RAS has turned a corner and is now thriving! As they bring people back to the office, not only has morale improved, but the culture has improved as well. I think they are headed for a comeback story, especially in the Watertown office!

The way RAS, and Emerson as a whole for that matter, does business is outdated and simply d-mb. I went from RAS to one of the best companies in my state and it’s night and day. You get treated like an engineer, not a homeless person being nickel-and-dimed.

Better companies invest in their future, they train their employees, and then hire from all over the country, not just a handful of states.

At my current company, I am expected to be delivering the future, not just coasting using tools and processes that are decades old. Architects actually do architecture and not just fighting fires and taking on work that others can do if they were better supported.

Emerson has next gen products that do less than the products they are supposedly replacing. Products that have taken more than a decade of engineering development, when others put out updates multiple times a year.

Emerson is also filled with old men, who are on the verge of retirement with no people who have all that knowledge transferred to them. Probably good since everything is so outdated and some of the markets are going to die anyway.

If you at RAS, you are wasting your time, your talents and your life. Get out. Take it from me and others. You will be happier and better paid elsewhere.

Firstly, PD is delusional if he thinks he can change employees (current and former) views of RAS. PD is clueless on managing business. He is a good administrator, not a business leader. He is destroying RAS, layoffs after layoffs since he took over.

He also ki---d the other businesses that were acquired and put under RAS. Geofields is dead. Zedi is on the way to the ICU. ESI has been admitted to the hospital, will eventually be in ICU if nothing changed.

Irony that ESI employees are pleading for help through this website. Obviously they are pleading because they don’t want to see the business fade into oblivion. However, the fate is sealed as long as it is under PD. ESI employees are highly sought after. My advice is get out when you can. There are many companies out there who will pay more for your skills.

I personally feel that you’re dilutional, and morale has came back just like that after being kicked for the last few years! Long hill to climb even if your thinking is accurate.
