Thread regarding Belk layoffs

How many different jobs are you doing?

The situation here has really become ridiculous. I do three different jobs at Belk.
Do they really think this is normal?

I absolutely think that it would be better for the company (and for everyone else) to hire more people, than to squeeze the existing people to this extent.

It won't help anyone, but there are a thousand reasons why it can do even more damage to this company which is sinking anyways.

While I was grateful to have a job, being recalled in October '20 I was told I might get to do some AP stuff once a week but I would be doing the truck and fulfillment the remainder of the time. Truth be told while I liked the change, I felt that the poor communication was the deciding factor in me leaving. Fortunately I was able to keep my AP pay ($15/hr) while doing the truck and other duties, so I cant complain there.

Exactly why I walked out after 17 years. They care about none of their employees... I was working 7 departments alone including fine jewelry . ( know nothing about working fine jewelry ) manager wouldn’t even come to floor after being called . From RVP Beverly wiseman down to SM , to dept manager they SUCK !!! literally .... get out now !!!

A TJ Maxx store manager STARTS at $95,000 at the very lowest. Belk is way behind if they only pay $60k.

Who’s wondering that they’re leaving ?? Because I can promise you that Sycamore and Corporate doesn’t care. Most seasoned associates get paid $13+. I have seen some that get paid $15-$18 and hour. Belk is happy that they’re leaving. Because they’re hiring new associates at $9. Stms getting hired at $40k. Mtms at $45. And store managers at $60k. Trust me belk wants all the old people to leave.

At least Von Maur still has the right sense to retain full department staff unlike everyone else.

Welcome to the new world of retail. Slash the bottom line by reducing payroll costs. Everybody is doing it.

Same deal at my store. We are all doing 3-4 different jobs per person and then they wonder why everyone (including managers) keeps leaving.
