Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Nothing motivates me to do my best

How many things could you have done much better than you actually did?
I think that this company can no longer motivate its employees, even those who love their job very much, to try and do their job the best they can. Now I just do my job to earn a living, nothing more.

@o6uh the HR system is directed by claims management to reject your application automatically if the role you are applying to’s requested hire date is less than 6 weeks out - which is every non-claims related jobs (except one Dept). In the days with actual training, classes lasted 6 weeks so made sense in terms of replacing you. However, no more training classes but rule is still in place just because it prevents the mass exodus from claims that would naturally occur without that rule.

Applications are blocked and the non-claims hiring managers will never even see your MyBlock resume or statement of interest. The only roles that claims people can transfer to are other claims teams like injury, total loss, subrogation, prop CS, UW, and oddly, IT Help Support because they actually have a 6-week training program. Even if you can get the interest of a non-claims hiring manager on your own, there is a list of all non-transfer eligible claim handlers that must be manually checked by that department before scheduling an interview.

Yes, it’s legal. Yes, you’re trapped. Yes, it’s unspoken about within claims but all other departments know since they have to comply with the rules.

Hmmm. Or maybe get some talent. It isnt qintity of employees - it is quality. When we compete with orgs with a bench willing to work to win - we will win. Otherwise we will justbhave overpaid fat entitled players.

In regards to the Clippers for 30 years they stunk because the owner didn't care, didn't invest in talent, and quite frankly didn't care about winning or the fans. BUT, they get a new owner, he invests in talent. Now the Clippers are one of the best teams. Point is the only way SF can get better is a change in leadership.

Just wanted to point everyone to something...maybe old news so I apologize. With our new HR system you have to upload a resume to apply for a job internally. If you look there is no difference between internally and externally posted jobs listed. The system scans your resume for key competencies/words and if it does not see those it will not even forward it to the hiring manager. I wonder how many people at SF are even aware of this. Basically what is happening is many of the jobs are not even being posted internally. I have a very strange feeling that going forward when the future operating model is fully unveiled we will all be competing for our jobs with folks outside of SF! SF could care less about you or your career! They have to have turnover to keep expense and salary low!

They only promote people they like who interview well, work isnt considered. In fact establishing you can over produce makes it more expected than being thanked and rewarded.

And a pretty miserable job at that.

It's extremely hard to do your best when they have 9-ways to Sunday to find something wrong with your work product. They never consider the amount of work or the complexity of the claims that you must handle. It's not a motivating place, it is either do or not do, there is no try!
