Being scheduled excessive days in a row

My store keeps scheduling people 6-8 days in a row before we get a day off. They won't change it either when we point it out. We are all so burnt out. Anyone else have this going on?

It’s just insane that the directive comes from corporate.
Our store does not need excess dead weight on the weekends. We need bodies during the week, and hours to give those bodies. I don’t know what ridiculous metric they’re using, but it’s ki----g the stores, and morale.

Restaurant industry and travel are hurting. Travel industry would definitely be a good fit (hotel chains?). Local counties, as well as state employee options. All would likely provide full time benefits. Best time to search as many are opting to stay aside and collect unemployment. You are qualified for these positions! You’ve made your metrics, go for it! Time for a welcome change?

“HAVE to OVERSTAFF on weekends.”

Understaffed and anticipated “call outs” on weekends.

Oh my! Understand the "schedules" run Sun thru Sat.. One week You will find yourself working a 6-8 stretch at times. It happens. It particularly happens if you are lucky and get a long weekend off. Or have two days off in a row midweek. Meanwhile read the "Indeed" complaints about lack of hours being given in many stores.
You can not walk past any business now and not see "Hiring" signs. Get up, get out, get going and expand your horizons. Believe it or not, retail workers are in high demand in other businesses. You have high levels of customer service skills, workplace flexibility, ability to work under pressure and with others and so much more to offer.
As for that "superstar" manager? There are ways to fix that issue too!

Also, your HR is full of it.
They can manipulate the schedule all day, every day.

My honest guess is that there would not be a disparity, simply because there are so few employees, and they HAVE to over staff on weekends. Which means practically every employee, due to the fact that the minimum weekend staff is about equal to the number of employees at any store 😂
It’s total insanity. Short staffing all week long to the point of actual injury, over staffing all weekend to the point of walk outs.

I’ve tried talking to HR and she said that was how the schedule prints out and there is nothing she can do. Morale is very low. People are miserable, working every weekend for months and the only thing getting discussed is how we can make our store manager a superstar. Sad.

My advice would be to first talk to the person(s) in charge of scheduling. If that fails, compare youre schedule to that of others in the same position and if you find a significant disparity, I would take that to HR.
